Spring Fishing is Here

Winter is coming to a close and spring is here. We had a major freeze that resulted in a fish kill event. The majority of the impact appears be on none gamefish species but will also affect the Trophy Trout population and make them even more elusive. Redfish and Drum are plentiful as ever and slot Trout are still here in numbers.

With water temps rising and spring tides coming so will the exchange of Trout coming into the bays to spawn. Trout will be targeted on structure with live shrimp or artificial lures. Redfish are currently plentiful and numbers should increase with temperatures. Redfish will be up shallow on the flats and provide great sight fishing opportunities with soft plastics. With a possible bonus flounder that are already showing up in the bay. Drum will also be targeted if the March winds start cranking.
